The 3 Spot Gourami is a hardy, eye-catching centerpiece fish known for its graceful movement and curious personality. Despite the name, it technically has two visible dark spots along its body—the third “spot” is its eye. Available in several color variations (including blue, gold, and opaline forms), this species adds both presence and personality to medium and larger community aquariums.
This is a moderately easy fish to keep, making it suitable for aquarists with some basic experience. Like other gouramis, it is a labyrinth fish, meaning it can breathe atmospheric air from the surface. They appreciate calm water, planted areas, and some floating cover. Males can be territorial, especially toward other gouramis, so space and visual breaks are important.
Care Requirements:
-

3 Spot Gouramis can be kept in community tanks with medium-sized, peaceful fish such as larger tetras, rasboras, rainbowfish, peaceful barbs, and corydoras. Avoid housing with fin-nipping species or other similarly sized gouramis unless the tank is large and well-structured. They are not ideal for very small nano fish or delicate long-finned species.
An adaptable, personality-filled centerpiece fish with bold coloration and classic gourami charm.
