Amapá Red Back Angel (Pterophyllum scalare) is a striking angelfish variety known for the vivid red to deep orange coloration that develops along the upper back and shoulders, especially as the fish matures. Originally traced to the Amapá region of Brazil, this angelfish retains a more natural, wild-type body shape and grace compared to many captive-bred strains.

These angels do well in planted aquariums with plenty of vertical space, gentle flow, and calm tankmates. While generally peaceful, they can become territorial during breeding. Their long fins and graceful movement make them a standout in community or species tanks.
