Anubias Nana - Anubias Spp.

Anubias nana is a compact and extremely popular aquarium plant from the genus Anubias, known for its small, rounded leaves and low-growing, tidy appearance. Its deep green foliage is thick and durable, forming dense clusters that make it ideal for foreground to midground placement. Because of its manageable size, it’s especially well-suited for nano aquariums and detailed aquascapes.

Like all Anubias, it grows from a horizontal rhizome and should be attached to driftwood, rocks, or décor rather than planted in the substrate. Once secured, it will gradually anchor itself and spread, forming attractive, natural-looking patches over time. Its slow growth rate means it requires very little maintenance and rarely needs trimming.

Anubias nana is incredibly hardy and adaptable, thriving in low to moderate lighting and a wide range of water conditions. It does not require CO₂ injection, making it a perfect choice for low-tech setups or beginners. Its sturdy leaves are also resistant to most fish damage, making it suitable for a variety of tank inhabitants.
