Assorted Mollies

Mollies are hardy, adaptable livebearers known for their wide range of colors and fin types. Assorted varieties may include black, dalmatian, gold dust, lyretail, sailfin, and mixed color patterns. Their active swimming style and bold personalities make them a lively addition to community aquariums, while larger sailfin varieties add impressive finnage and presence.

This species is easy to keep and beginner-friendly, especially in stable, slightly alkaline water. Mollies are highly adaptable and can even tolerate low levels of salinity, though they thrive perfectly well in freshwater when parameters are consistent. Like other livebearers, they reproduce readily in mixed groups.

Care Requirements:

• Tank Size: Minimum 20 gallons (larger for sailfin varieties)

• Temperature: 24–28°C

• pH: 7.0–8.5 (prefers alkaline water)

• Water Hardness: Moderate to hard

• Temperament: Peaceful and active

• Diet: Omnivore — quality flakes or pellets with strong vegetable content, plus frozen or live foods

Mollies do well in peaceful community tanks with swordtails, platies, larger tetras, rasboras, corydoras, and peaceful gouramis. Avoid aggressive tankmates or fin-nippers. Because they prefer harder, more alkaline water, they pair especially well with other livebearers.
