Bacopa Ampolexicaullis

Bacopa amplexicaulis is a bold, upright stem plant recognized for its broad, rounded leaves that wrap gently around the stem as they grow. In moderate lighting it stays a vibrant green, but under stronger light it can develop attractive bronze to reddish tones near the top. Its larger leaf size gives it a fuller, more dramatic presence compared to other Bacopa varieties, making it an excellent background statement plant.

This species is easy to moderate in difficulty. It tolerates a range of water conditions and is suitable for many freshwater setups, but stronger lighting and consistent nutrients will bring out its best color and more compact growth. It grows steadily and responds well to trimming—cut the tops and replant them to build a dense, layered background group over time.

Bacopa amplexicaulis is ideal for peaceful community tanks with species such as tetras, rasboras, livebearers, corydoras, bettas, and gouramis. It also works well in shrimp aquariums, providing vertical structure and grazing surfaces. It is not recommended for tanks with large herbivorous or rough plant-eating fish.
