Bronze/Green Cory - Corydoras Aeneus

The Bronze/Green Cory is a hardy and peaceful bottom-dwelling catfish known for its reflective bronze to greenish sheen and active, social behavior. Its armored body and gentle nature make it one of the most beginner-friendly Corydoras species, while still being a favorite among experienced aquarists.

This species is highly social and should always be kept in groups of at least 4–6 individuals, though larger groups are even better. They spend most of their time exploring the bottom of the tank, sifting through substrate in search of food. A soft substrate is recommended to protect their delicate barbels, which they use to forage.

Care Requirements:
Bronze Corys are adaptable and can tolerate a range of water conditions, but they thrive best in clean, well-maintained aquariums with stable parameters. A soft sand or fine substrate is ideal, along with gentle filtration and plenty of open bottom space. While they can tolerate a variety of setups, they appreciate planted tanks and some cover like driftwood or botanicals. Regular water changes help keep them healthy and active.

Diet:
They are omnivores and will accept a wide range of foods. A varied diet including sinking pellets, wafers, frozen foods like bloodworms or brine shrimp, and occasional plant-based foods will keep them in good condition. They should not be relied on to clean the tank entirely—supplemental feeding is important.

Tankmates:
Bronze Corys are peaceful and do well in community aquariums. They pair well with small to medium-sized non-aggressive fish such as tetras, rasboras, guppies, and peaceful dwarf cichlids. Avoid aggressive or fin-nipping species that may stress them. Their calm nature makes them an excellent addition to most community setups.
