Bucephalandra sp. ‘Rainbow Frost’ is a premium and visually striking variety of Bucephalandra, known for its delicate, shimmering foliage that can display a mix of green, bluish, and subtle pink-to-purple iridescence depending on light conditions. The leaves are small, slightly wavy, and often appear “frosted,” giving the plant a cool-toned, almost jewel-like appearance that stands out in aquascapes.

Like all Bucephalandra, it grows from a creeping rhizome and must be attached to hardscape such as driftwood, rocks, or aquarium décor. It should not be buried in substrate. Its slow, compact growth makes it ideal for nano tanks, accent placements, or detailed aquascaping where fine texture and color variation are desired. Over time, it forms dense clumps that add depth without overwhelming the layout.

This variety does best in stable, mature aquariums. While it can survive in low-tech setups, moderate lighting, consistent fertilization, and CO₂ supplementation will significantly enhance both growth and its signature iridescent coloration. It may temporarily “melt” when first introduced, but typically recovers once fully acclimated.
