Cardinal Tetra - Paracheirodon Axelrodi

Paracheirodon axelrodi, known as the Cardinal Tetra, is a vibrant, schooling fish that’s beloved for its striking electric blue stripe and deep red body. Native to the blackwater rivers of South America, particularly the Rio Negro and Orinoco, they thrive in soft, acidic waters surrounded by dense vegetation.

Cardinals are peaceful and do best in schools of at least 6 to 10 individuals. In large groups, they display stunning synchronized swimming and feel more secure, which encourages their full coloration. These tetras prefer a calm, dimly lit tank with plenty of plants and driftwood to mimic their natural habitat.
