Clown Killi- Epiplatys Annulatus

Epiplatys annulatus, commonly known as the Clown Killi or Rocket Panchax, is a small and strikingly beautiful killifish native to slow-moving streams and swamps in West Africa, particularly Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Guinea. This species gets its name from its bold coloration—striped like a clown with alternating dark and light bands along the body and a brilliant red or orange tail that looks like a rocket flame when in motion.

Clown Killis are top-dwelling fish, often seen hovering just beneath the water's surface. They do best in well-planted aquariums with gentle filtration, floating plants, and subdued lighting to mimic their natural habitat. While peaceful, they can be a bit shy, so keeping them in a small group of at least 6 will help them feel secure and bring out more natural behaviors.

These fish are also prized in nano tank setups or as part of a peaceful community with similarly sized species. Though small, they are surprisingly hardy and will often spawn in the aquarium if conditions are right.
