What to Expect

Cones may initially float before becoming waterlogged and sinking — this is completely normal and can be sped up by boiling or soaking before adding to the tank. Tannins will gradually tint the water a warm tea colour. If you prefer clearer water, use activated carbon in your filter while still enjoying the biological benefits the cones provide.
