Neolamprologus cylindricus, commonly known as the Cylindricus Cichlid, is a sleek and elegant rock-dwelling species from Lake Tanganyika. True to its name, this cichlid has a cylindrical body shape marked by bold horizontal black bars on a silvery-white to pale lavender background, often accented with iridescent blue highlights on the fins and face. Its streamlined appearance and striking pattern make it a standout in any Tanganyikan tank.

Cylindricus Cichlids are territorial but relatively moderate in aggression compared to other Lamprologines. They prefer rocky aquascapes with plenty of crevices and caves where they can claim and defend a home. In the wild, they inhabit the rocky shorelines and often spawn in tight spaces. This species does best either singly, in pairs, or in carefully selected Tanganyikan communities.
