Diamond Tetra - Moenkhausia Pittieri

The Diamond Tetra (Moenkhausia pittieri) is a stunning freshwater fish admired for its sparkling, iridescent scales that shimmer like diamonds under aquarium lighting. Native to Venezuela, this peaceful species is a favorite for planted community aquariums because of its calm temperament and eye-catching appearance.

Juvenile fish often appear fairly silver, but as they mature their scales develop brilliant reflective highlights that glitter across the body. In well-maintained aquariums with good lighting and dark substrate, the shimmering effect becomes especially noticeable.

Diamond Tetras are schooling fish, and keeping them in groups allows them to feel secure and display their natural behavior.
