Elegant Corydora - Corydoras Elegans

The Elegant Corydora is a visually stunning and peaceful freshwater catfish, named for its graceful appearance and distinctive pattern. It features a silver-beige body with fine, dark horizontal stripes along the sides and subtle spotted markings, giving it a delicate and refined look. Its small size and calm nature make it a favorite for planted community tanks.

This species is easy to keep, hardy, and ideal for both beginner and experienced aquarists. Elegant Corydoras are active bottom-dwellers that spend much of their time foraging along the substrate for leftover food and biofilm.

Behavior & Compatibility:

Elegant Corydoras are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of 4–6 or more to display natural behavior. They thrive in peaceful community tanks alongside:

• Tetras

• Rasboras

• Dwarf gouramis

• Other Corydoras species

• Shrimp and snails

Avoid aggressive or very large fish that may intimidate them or compete for food.

Tank Setup:

A planted aquarium with fine substrate (sand preferred) works best to protect their delicate barbels. Include driftwood, rocks, and plants to create hiding spots. Gentle filtration and stable water parameters are important to keep them healthy and active.
