Eureka Red Cichlid - Aulonocara Jacobfreibergi

The Eureka Red Cichlid is a vibrant and highly sought-after African cichlid prized for its intense red, orange, and blue coloration. A stunning variant of Aulonocara jacobfreibergi, this peacock cichlid develops brilliant metallic blues across the face and fins, contrasted by fiery red and orange throughout the body. Males display the strongest coloration as they mature, becoming true centerpiece fish in a Malawi cichlid aquarium.

Native to Lake Malawi, Eureka Reds thrive in rocky aquariums with plenty of open swimming space and stable water conditions. While generally more peaceful than many Mbuna cichlids, males can still be territorial, especially toward other similarly coloured peacocks or cichlids. They do best in appropriately stocked African cichlid setups with compatible tankmates.

These cichlids are active, intelligent fish that quickly learn feeding routines and often become very interactive with their owners. A varied diet of high-quality cichlid pellets, frozen foods, and occasional protein-rich treats will help maintain their colour and condition.
