Giant Plakat Betta - Grade A (Male)

The male Giant Plakat Betta is a striking, larger-bodied variety of Betta splendens, bred for both size and bold coloration while maintaining the short, powerful fins characteristic of the Plakat type. Grade A males are selected for strong form, clean fin structure, and vibrant, high-quality coloration.

Unlike long-finned bettas, the Plakat’s shorter fins give it a more natural, athletic look and improved swimming ability. Combined with its larger size, the Giant Plakat is an active and confident fish that makes a strong visual centerpiece in any aquarium.

Care Requirements:
Due to their size, male Giant Plakats require more space than standard bettas. A minimum of 10 gallons is recommended, with larger tanks being ideal. They thrive in warm, stable water with gentle filtration and should be kept in a well-maintained aquarium with regular water changes. Provide plants, driftwood, or botanicals to create resting spots and reduce stress. A secure lid is important, as bettas can jump.

Diet:
Giant Plakat Bettas are carnivorous and need a protein-rich diet to support their size and energy levels. Offer high-quality betta pellets as a staple, supplemented with frozen or live foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia. Feeding small, regular portions helps maintain health and prevents overfeeding.

Tankmates:
Males are generally best kept alone due to territorial behavior. In some larger, well-planned aquariums, they may coexist with peaceful, non-fin-nipping fish, but compatibility can vary by individual. Avoid other male bettas, aggressive species, or fish with long, flowing fins that may trigger aggression.
