Hygrophila stricta is a hardy and fast-growing stem plant valued for its strong vertical growth and dense clusters of green leaves. The plant produces upright stems lined with narrow to oval-shaped leaves that range from bright green to slightly bronze depending on lighting intensity. As it grows, Hygrophila stricta develops thick, bushy stands that provide excellent cover for fish, shrimp, and fry. Its quick growth also helps absorb excess nutrients in the water column, making it useful for improving overall aquarium stability.

Growth & Maintenance

While it can survive in low-tech setups, moderate lighting and nutrient-rich water will encourage stronger growth and fuller foliage. CO₂ is not required but may enhance growth and leaf density in planted aquariums.
