Lethrinops Red Cap (Haplochromis sp.) is a striking Lake Malawi cichlid known for its shimmering body and distinctive reddish-orange “cap” that covers the top of the head. Males, especially when mature or during breeding, display intense coloration with iridescent blues and metallic hues across the body, making them a true centerpiece fish.

Unlike the more aggressive mbuna species, Lethrinops and related haps tend to be more peaceful and enjoy open swimming space with sandy bottoms, where they often sift through the substrate in search of food. They do best in a species-only or peaceful haplochromine community setup.
