Ludwigia Rubin

Ludwigia ‘Rubin’ is a deep red to burgundy stem plant known for its elongated leaves and rich, wine-toned coloration. Compared to ‘Super Red,’ this variety develops darker, more dramatic hues—especially under strong lighting and good nutrient availability. When grown in optimal conditions, the tops can display intense crimson tones that create beautiful contrast against green plants and natural hardscape.

This species is considered moderate in difficulty. While it can survive in moderate light, higher lighting is important to maintain its deep red coloration and prevent it from turning more olive or green. CO₂ is not strictly required, but it significantly improves growth rate, leaf size, and color saturation. Regular trimming encourages bushier growth, and tops can be replanted to create a dense, layered background.
