Macmasteri Apistogramma - Dwarf Cichlid

The Macmasteri Apistogramma is a small, striking dwarf cichlid from South America, prized for its vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and engaging personality. Males typically display bright blue, yellow, and red hues with intricate horizontal striping along their body and extended dorsal and caudal fins, while females are smaller with more muted coloration but often show red or orange highlights during breeding. Their graceful swimming and territorial but generally peaceful behavior make them a fascinating addition to well-structured aquariums.

This species is considered moderate in difficulty, suitable for aquarists with some experience in maintaining stable water conditions and managing small cichlid territories. They thrive in planted tanks with plenty of hiding spots, caves, and leaf litter, which provide security and breeding opportunities.
