Red Lizard Whiptail Catfish

The Red Lizard Catfish is a fascinating and elegant member of the whiptail catfish family, known for its slender body, extended tail, and beautiful reddish to rust-colored tones. Red Lizard Catfish are calm bottom-dwelling fish that do best with peaceful tankmates. They can be kept singly or in small groups and are generally non-territorial compared to many other catfish species.

Good tankmates include:

• Tetras

• Rasboras

• Corydoras

• Dwarf cichlids

• Gouramis

• Shrimp and snails

Avoid keeping them with aggressive fish that may harass slower bottom dwellers.

Tank Setup:

A soft sandy substrate, driftwood, and plants are ideal for this species. They enjoy shaded areas and gentle water flow. Providing plenty of surfaces for biofilm growth will help support their natural grazing behavior.
