Rocket Gars can grow to an impressive size, reaching up to 10 feet in the wild, although aquarium specimens generally stay smaller. Due to their size and strong hunting instincts, they require a very large tank and are best suited for advanced aquarists with large, well-maintained setups. They are peaceful with other large fish but are aggressive towards smaller species. These gars are carnivorous, feeding on fish, crustaceans, and small animals in their natural environment. A secure, large tank with plenty of open swimming space is essential to meet their needs.
