The Southern Green Corydoras (Corydoras septentrionalis) is a lesser-known, but incredibly charming species of catfish native to the rivers and streams of South America. These peaceful, bottom-dwelling fish are a fantastic addition to community aquariums, thanks to their calm nature and social behavior. The Southern Green Corydoras has a striking greenish hue with a metallic sheen, which gives it a beautiful and subtle appearance. Like other Corydoras, they are scavengers, sifting through the substrate in search of food, making them helpful in keeping the tank clean. These fish prefer to be kept in groups, as they are highly social, and they do best in tanks with fine, sandy substrate, plants, and plenty of hiding spots. They thrive in soft, slightly acidic to neutral water and are ideal for peaceful aquariums with other small, non-aggressive species.
