Watermelon Pleco L-330

The Watermelon Pleco L-330 is a striking freshwater catfish prized for its unique watermelon-like patterning: a greenish to brown body covered in bright orange to red spots, resembling a ripened watermelon. Native to South America, it is a peaceful, active bottom-dweller that grazes on biofilm, algae, and driftwood, making it both functional and ornamental in aquariums.

This species is moderate in care, requiring stable water parameters, plenty of hiding spots, and a well-maintained tank to thrive and maintain its vivid coloration.

Behavior & Compatibility:

Watermelon Plecos are bottom-dwelling, nocturnal, and mostly peaceful. They prefer hiding spots such as caves, driftwood, and crevices and coexist well with:

• Corydoras and other peaceful catfish

• Medium tetras, rasboras, and barbs

• Dwarf cichlids

• Shrimp and snails

Avoid aggressive or overly large fish that could intimidate or compete with them for territory.

Tank Setup:

A planted or driftwood-rich aquarium with caves, rocks, and soft substrate is ideal. Moderate water flow, gentle filtration, and stable water parameters replicate their natural habitat and support vibrant coloration and healthy grazing behavior.
